Lydia MacLear Photography

Since 1989, Lydia MacLear has been a professional photographer specializing in children and family portraits, as well as wedding and event photography. Lydia fell in love with photography at Miss Porter's School which launched her lifelong commitment to the art. Experienced in both candid and formal photography, Lydia studied at Rhode Island School of Design, The School of Visuals Arts and American College in Paris. She is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University where she majored in Art History.

10 years ago Lydia started to refine her art photography. Her work has been exhibited at shows in New England and South Florida. Lydia's photographs have been featured in Town & Country, The New York Times, The Greenwich Post, The Chichago Tribune and Ocean Views. Celebrities such as Katie Couric, Conan O'Brien, Roy Lichtenstein, Elsa Peretti and #1 best selling author James Patterson are among her clientele. Her wedding photograph of James and Sue Patterson is featured on his book jacket "The Christmas Wedding". Other Author book jacket portraits include Deborah Royce, Bronwen Hruska, and Solange Herder. Her client list includes many renowned families worldwide.

Lydia photographs many prominent families and celebrities both regionally and abroad. She is committed to capturing the inner spirit of the child and the dynamics of the family. She has the required patience to bring out the essence of the individual and to make the sitter comfortable in front of the camera. She is described as possessing tremendous sensitivity to the moods and personalities of children.
